Gamers Without Borders, a virtual festival consisting of a number of esports tournaments, as well as live shows, concerts, and a learning platform, announced its return for the second year. The project is backed by the Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports (SAFEIS), with the $1.5 million charity CS:GO tournament hosted by ESL just one part of the month-long festival that will distribute $10 million.
Eight teams will compete in the Gamers Without Borders 2021 CS:GO event on June 22-27, with the teams that place higher at the event given the opportunity to distribute a larger chunk of the prize pool to the charity of their choosing. The mission of this year's edition of the festival is to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to underdeveloped countries and communities at risk.
The tournament will feature exclusively BO3 matches, starting with two four-team GSL groups and concluding with a single-elimination playoff bracket. Unlike the 2020 edition of the tournament which experimented with an MR12 ruleset, Gamers Without Borders 2.0 will use the classic, MR15 ruleset.
Aside from the Ninjas in Pyjamas and MOUZ, Brazilian side MIBR, as well as fan favorites FaZe and Dignitas will compete at the tournament.
